    Super Tuesday Results

As of last night Clinton had 632 delegates and Obama had 626. New Mexico was too close to call.

Phase four: The rest of the race
If no candidate has received a majority of delegates by the 5th, the remaining primaries will influence the nomination. If there is no majority at the end of the primary season, there will be a brokered convention.

OGDEN NAMES HIGHER ED, PROPERTY TAX SUBCOMMITTEES

Senate Finance will beginning meeting on last Tuesday of the month, starting on Feb. 26.

Chair Sen. Steve Ogden (R-Bryan) has named the member of two subcommittees to deal with interim charges on higher education and property taxes, as outlined in interim charges from Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

One subcommittee, chaired by Sen. Judith Zaffirini (D-Laredo) will consider setting performance standards for higher education. Members of the subcommittee include Sens. Florence Shapiro, Robert Duncan, Royce West and Ogden. The committee also will take up the charge of reviewing higher education authorities, a joint charge with the Senate Finance Committee.

The second subcommittee, chaired by Sen. Tommy Williams (R-The Woodlands), will take up the issue of property taxes "and explore what mechanisms may exist to prevent future constitutional challenges." Members are Sens. Kevin Eltife, Robert Deuell, Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa and Eddie Lucio. This also is a joint charge with the Senate Finance Committee.

Ogden expects the Senate Finance Committee to begin to meet monthly on the fourth Tuesday of each month. He anticipates he will divide and distribute the remaining interim charges at that time. If invited testimony takes longer than one day, the committee hearings could be extended to Wednesday, Ogden told the members before they recessed for lunch.

    McUnconstitutional

The Constitution has little relevance to the government, but still it's interesting to note that the crazed John McCain was born, to his state-connected parents, in the Panama Canal Zone. The Zone, the product of US imperialism under the crazed Teddy Roosevelt, was never officially US territory. That is, McCain was born in a foreign country, and therefore not eligible to be president, according to the Constitution.
