GREETINGS FELLOW DEMOCRATS!
Thank you...
...to all the wonderful volunteers that have pitched in over the last several weeks to help get the show on the road. It has been a huge job and would not have happened without you. We love you.
The Brazos County Democratic Party Convention
The Convention will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 29, 2008. It will be held at the E. A. Kemp Elementary School gym at 1601 W. MLK in Bryan. The gym is at the back of the school. It was the largest available place we could find. It will be a great place to make history.
Sign in will begin at 1:00. Please come early as we would like to start on time and we have 767 delegates and alternates. Bring your voter registration card or your driver’s license. If you are a delegate and find you cannot attend you must find an alternate from your precinct that has the same presidential preference as you. We will not find your replacement. We can give you the names of the alternates from you precinct but that it all. We must be notified—preferably in writing. We cannot just be “signing” people in. The credentials committee will be meeting early next week to start on a huge task. Resolutions will meet also.
We will elect 36 delegates and 36 alternates to the state convention. Many of us will not be going. Please be supportive of those who are going. Wish them well.
Alternates and guests will be asked to sit in the stands in the gym since they cannot vote.
I assume that the Rules Committee will be meeting but I do not know when. Same for Nominations.
Help will be needed that Saturday morning to set chairs up. They will be delivered at 10a.m. Help will be needed at the end to take chairs down. We had to rent chairs and they must be stacked up against the wall to be picked up Monday as well as being out of the way when the children come to school on Monday morning.
Your patience and good attitude are needed. This has been a huge undertaking. The cost is nearly $2000. If you can send us a check to help defray the cost we would greatly appreciate it. We have been tight with our money and we had the funds to pay for this but now we have to replenish.
If you have questions about anything please talk to us ahead of time. That way everyone can enjoy this experience.
Food for thought: What do Brazos County Democrats do after January, 2009? We have a tremendous opportunity. What does that opportunity look like and what will be your part in it?
This is a great piece...
The pictures -— many of them make me cry. But it is excellent and I encourage you to take the time to do the entire thing.

America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.
