GREETINGS FELLOW DEMOCRATS!
FYI in the Houston paper today
I only pray such honesty comes to white churches
As a Christian preacher listening to the controversy over the Rev.
By ANDREW FOSTER CONNORS
Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., it's somewhat gratifying to be reminded that words matter. Those of us who accept this vocation wouldn't have it any other way. We spend hours agonizing over words every week — words written in the Bible, translated from Hebrew and Greek; words that we parse, translate again, memorize, seek to understand, and ultimately shape into a new word in the sermon. But in recent days, as more and more commentators have dismissed Wright as the "crazy uncle in the attic," my pleasure has turned to anger and dismay.
Don't get me wrong. I do not agree with Wright's choice of words in the 30 seconds that have been played again and again on national television. I think his claim that our government created the HIV virus to destroy the black community is irresponsible, and "God damn America" is a terrible sound bite any way you slice it. Had I been a parishioner in his church, I might well have told him so. Moreover, Wright's recent comment equating attacks on himself with attacks on "the black church" raises disturbing questions about a man who apparently believes his own substantial ego authorizes him to speak for an entity that is more diverse than ever.

Valerie Plame....
WASHINGTON — Former CIA operative Valerie Plame is trying to resurrect a lawsuit against those in the Bush administration who she says illegally disclosed her identity in 2003.
U.S. District Judge John Bates dismissed the lawsuit last year, saying there was no basis to bring a case. Plame's lawyers asked a federal appeals court Friday to send the case back to Bates and force him to consider its merits.
Plame and her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, sued Vice President Dick Cheney, former White House political adviser Karl Rove and two others.

Texas on the Potomac

Now that StopHerNow.com has helped to stop her, the vast right wing conspiracy shifts its focus to Obama
StopHerNow.com, the conservative Texas-based web site that has tried to derail Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign through satire and ridicule, is undergoing a sex change operation.
Starting tomorrow, Stop Her Now is becoming Stop Him Now, Texas on the Potomac has learned.
The old logo is being replaced by a new one with Barack Obama's photo.
The site will adjust its focus from bashing the former first lady to thrashing Barack Obama, the Illinois senator and now prohibitive favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Richard H. Collins, the Dallas philanthropist, education entrepreneur and Republican fund-raiser who set up the anti-Hillary site.
"We've concluded that Hillary's lost," said Collins, who has invested several hundred thousand dollars of his own money in the independent political venture that includes videos, cartoons, news links and an anti- Hillary blog. "So we're shifting our emphasis to stop-him-now.com."
In a short while, visitors seeking to access the anti-Hillary web site will be redirected to the new site. Instead of saying it is "saving America from the radical leftist agenda of Hillary Clinton," it is now "saving America from the radical leftist agenda of Barack Obama."
Collins has been phasing in new anti-Obama content over the last few weeks, in anticipation of the changes to come.
For example, the long-running feature called "the Hillary Show," featuring the New York senator as an acid-tongued TV talk show host, was recently "cancelled" by her cartoon sidekick, Howard Dean, after an appearance on the show by Obama. And StopHerNow added a comedy bit featuring Clinton refusing to accept defeat and starting her own pirate radio show. (You can listen to it by clicking here, but we warn you that it contains a bit of salty language.)
The likely Democratic nominee is harder to ridicule, Collins says.
While Collins, a proud member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, says he's overjoyed at Clinton's apparent demise, he says that making fun of Obama is harder work.
