    McCain silences librarians

    Countdown with Keith Olbermann: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#25594420

    http://www.236.com/feed/2008/07/08/librarian_in_magical_dreamcoat_7582.php

A 61 or 60 year old librarian got in hot water with Denver law enforcement yesterday. There was McCain town hall meeting going on inside of the Arts building in downtown Denver. The building was financed with some public money. Her sign said McCain = Bush. Why did the guy in the pea pod costume not get arrested? Hope someone coming to the event below has a pea costume. Too hot in Texas. See the clips above and scratch your head.

Obama Assails McCain on Immigration Before Latino Audience

    By Perry Bacon Jr.

Sen. Barack Obama repeated his charge that his opponent Sen. John McCain has not been a consistent backer of creating a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants who are now in the United States, telling a Latino group he would be a stronger advocate on the issue.

"When he was running for his party's nomination, he abandoned his courageous stance," Obama told the League of United Latin American Citizens, who heard from McCain earlier in the day,"and said that he wouldn't even support his own legislation if it came up for a vote. Well, for eight long years, we've had a President who made all kinds of promises to Latinos on the campaign trail, but failed to live up to them in the White House, and we can't afford that anymore."

McCain and President Bush were strong advocates of making it easier for illegal immigrants to become citizens when Congress debated the issue last year, but in the presidential campaign the Arizona senator has emphasized the importance of improving border security before pushing for new immigration legislation. McCain says he still supports that immigration legislation, but Obama pledged in his speech to "make it a top priority in my first year as President."

    McCain's Latest Iran Joke

    By Michael D. Shear

Sen. John McCain hasn't had good luck joking about Iran. But he tried it again Tuesday.

Responding to a question about a survey that shows increased exports to Iran, mainly from cigarettes, McCain said, "Maybe that's a way of killing them."

He quickly caught himself, saying "I meant that as a joke" as his wife, Cindy, poked him in the back.

Last time, it was also Iran. His singing about bombing Iran to the theme of the Beach Boy's "Barbara Ann" drew derision from many quarters but a "lighten up" response from McCain.
