GREETINGS FELLOW DEMOCRATS!
Thank you to...
...Barry Clar and Linda Coats for keeping the office running while I was in Alaska. Yes a week ago tomorrow it was 47 degrees in the morning. But duty calls. I did find the Obama office in Juneau and visited it. Imagine having to organize a state that is much bigger than Texas.

The Brazos Church Pantry
Fellow Democrats,
I spoke with Walter Cagle again last night, and told him about the good response I got from the progressive community to the emails I sent out asking for help for The Brazos Church Pantry. I told him that Lauralee at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is already leading an effort to have a joint food drive made up of UU Fellowship, Friends Congregational Church, and possibly other churches. He is extremely grateful.
He said that anyone wishing to call him at his home phone may do so. The number is 412-2610. His official Church Pantry title is food resource coordinator. He said that we may also call the president of the board of directors, Glenda Duncan at 774-7632. He informed me that the reason that there is no website and no email address is because there is no Internet at the Church Pantry. With different volunteers working computers, it helps make sure that the clients' and the Church Pantry's files are kept safe and confidential.
Walter set me straight about one important issue of misinformation in my letter. He said that, "no matter what happens, the Church Pantry does not turn anybody away". Apparently there are enough financial resources to keep them going, even during times when there is little in the way of donated food. This money is used to purchase food from the Brazos Food Bank.
Before, Walter had told me something about St. Vincent De Paul turning people away, and about how the Church Pantry is running out of food and how more and more people are needing help. >From that I concluded that the Church Pantry would soon have to turn families away which I said in the letters that went out. Unfortunately, any rhetoric which suggests the idea of turning people away goes against the grain of the Church Pantry's operating philosophy. The Church Pantry, thankfully, will not be turning families away. That's the good news.
The bad news is that The Church Pantry is indeed running very low on donated food items at a time when more people than ever are turning to it for assistance. It's a situation that could quickly get worse as inflation becomes more of a problem for everyone. We're also entering hurricane season, and we can expect a rise in the frequency of natural disasters which will, no doubt, tax the emergency food supply. The Brazos Church Pantry does need your help. They are asking for donations and volunteers.
It's exciting the way things are coming together with this food drive and all. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that comes out.
Thanks!
Ken McCormick
Check out the lies these faceless new emails are pushing about Barack and help fight back!
http://my.barackobama.com/obamaandtaxes
A viciously misleading smear email just started circulating around the internet. The email spreads lies like, "Under Obama your taxes will more than double," and tries to convince readers that his policies will "crash the stock market."
It even tries to claim that Barack will tax water!

He has also served faithfully on our Candidate Fund Committee. I am just back from almost 2 weeks off so if this went before I apologize:
Hey Maggie, how is it going? I need for you to do a huge favor my brother is particpating in a contest on Youtube for a prize to go to the Democratic National Convention, What I need for you to do is to circulate the video which can be found at http://youtube.com/watch?v=x679Llt2xCU
If you could just ask anyone who views the video to reply with just a small comment, anything would be helpful, I think youll find alot of the things he says very substantive, so please circulate this email around.
Thanks in Advance
