Go figure...go back and read the article earlier in the week on Rudy’s wife

Pat Robertson Endorses Rudy: Deems Him 'More Than Acceptable to People of Faith'

Pat Robertson, one of the most influential figures in the social conservative movement, announced his support for Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid this morning at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Robertson's endorsement of Giuliani is a significant blow to Mitt Romney, who has worked hard to court evangelical leaders.

Robertson's support was coveted by several of the leading Republican candidates and provides Giuliani with a major boost as the former New York City mayor seeks to convince social conservatives that, despite his positions supporting abortion rights and gay rights, he is an acceptable choice as the GOP nominee.

    More $$$ for Iraq War

The House will be voting tomorrow (Nov. 8) or Friday (Nov. 9) to approve tens of billions of dollars in additional funding for the war and occupation of Iraq.

Congress has already approved more than $602 billion for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and according to the Congressional Budget Office that total could rise as high as $1.7 TRILLION over the next decade.

Congress needs to stop providing money for war and start funding a comprehensive, new U.S. policy based on negotiations with all of Iraq's neighbors to ease tensions in the region, help stabilize Iraq, and facilitate U.S. withdrawal. This new policy, which has been introduced in the House with bipartisan support as the New Diplomatic Offensive for Iraq Act (H.R. 3797), could also put a speed bump in the way of plans for war with Iran.

Congressional support for direct talks with Iran, Syria, and Iraq's other neighbors is crucial to extricating the U.S. from Iraq and preventing a wider war.

Please make the time tomorrow to call Representative Chet Edwards (202-225-6105) and urge him to vote NO on additional money for war and to start insisting on diplomacy with Iran, Syria, and Iraq's other neighbors to end the war in Iraq and prevent war with Iran.

These talking points may be of help in making your call:

My name is XX and I'm calling from XX.

Please vote no on the president's request for bridge funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    David, for the Coalition

    AT&T Whistleblower Discusses Retroactive Immunity

In spring of 2006 I started seeing people put special notes to government agents in their email signature. The thinking was that if a government official was going to read your email, you might as well put a line in at the end to remind them that they were doing so illegally.

Yesterday afternoon I sat down with AT&T whistleblower Mark Klein. He's the technician who revealed that the NSA has secret rooms for sweeping up massive amounts of electronic communications on the internet - the story that prompted these sardonic email signatures.

Klein is calling on the Senate to not grant telecommunications companies retroactive immunity. He's also testifying to the scale of the Bush Administration's electronic surveillance:

"Everything you could imagine you use the internet for flows through these cables. It's not only international traffic, but a huge amount of domestic traffic too."

Klein is speaking out in defense of the rule of law because he knows how deep the rabbit hole of domestic surveillance really goes.

Watch the video of Klein talking about why he opposes retroactive immunity:

Klein is a hero for coming forward to bear witness to this dangerous violation of Americans' privacy...but the best way to honor his courage is to stand with him and with Senator Dodd to ensure that the companies that partnered with the Bush Administration can be held accountable for their actions.

Take action today - Call the Senate Judiciary Committee and tell them to oppose retroactive immunity.
